COMPLEMENTS officially kicks off in Genoa
The COMPLEMENTS project officially launched with a two-day Kick-off Meeting in Genoa, Italy, bringing together partners from across Europe to establish a shared vision and define the roadmap for the years ahead.
The meeting marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to strengthen Europe's security and defence capabilities by promoting a forward-looking, cross-sectoral approach to upskilling and reskilling. Discussions focused on aligning project objectives, governance and implementation activities while fostering cooperation among all consortium partners.
The first day focused on the project vision and the organisations involved, followed by presentations of the work packages covering project management and quality assurance, governance and cooperation, cross-sectoral skills intelligence, and the development of the upskilling and reskilling framework. Partners also formally appointed the project's Steering Committee and Advisory Board, which will oversee the project's strategic direction and ensure the quality and relevance of its outcomes.
On the second day, discussions centred on communication, dissemination, exploitation and long-term impact. Partners also held an interactive workshop to identify priority topics for the project's pilot activities across the aerospace, automotive and digital ecosystems. These discussions provided the starting point for the project's cross-sectoral skills intelligence activities and helped define the next implementation steps.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to fostering stronger cooperation between industry, education, research organisations and public authorities, reinforcing the consortium's ambition to develop innovative skills solutions that enhance Europe's resilience, competitiveness and strategic autonomy in the Security and Defence domain.
As the project moves into its implementation phase, partners will begin engaging stakeholders across Europe, collecting evidence on emerging skills needs and developing the first project outputs that will support a more agile, collaborative and future-ready workforce.
